Meetings and Events

Our monthly meeting takes place at 7.30pm on the second Thursday of every month, in Austwick Parish Hall.

Our March meeting was all about the importance of wildflowers and weeds for pollinating insects. We learnt about the precipitous decline of insect populations and how this directly impacts us - 70% of the world's food crops are pollinated by insects. Because insects have co-evolved with plants, flower structures are often particularly suitable to different types of insect, Julia encouraged us to plant flowers with as many different colours and structures as possible. She also pointed out that messier gardens create rich habitats - which was excellent news!
